Becoming a vendor is a straightforward process. This guide will walk you through the three main steps:
Get Your Permits
Review Our Market Info
Reserve Your Space.
(if you have these, then continue to step 2)
Operating legally is the most important first step! All vendors are independent business owners and are responsible for obtaining all necessary permits before selling at our market. Here is a guide to what you will likely need.
You will need a permit from the State of Texas and one from the City of Killeen.
Texas Sales and Use Tax Permit:
What it is: This permit from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts is required for any individual or business selling tangible personal property in Texas. It allows you to collect sales tax.
Is it required? Yes, for almost all vendors.
How to get it: It's free to apply for online through the Texas Comptroller's website.
City of Killeen Peddler's Permit:
What it is: This permit is issued by the City of Killeen (through the Police Department) for temporary or itinerant merchants operating within the city limits.
Is it required? Yes, the City of Killeen requires vendors at events and markets to have this permit. This applies to all vendors, whether you are outdoors or indoors, renting for a day or for multiple months. This process often includes a background check.
How to get it: You must apply directly with the City of Killeen Police Department. We strongly recommend contacting them for the most up-to-date application process and requirements.
